Cole Swindell isn’t chasing trends. He is a trend. His whole career is nothing but a trend. To this point, every song Swindell has put out has been predictable and right in line with either a current or fading trend.
-little back roads
-parking in the moonlight
-a crowd of guys eyeing a dancing girl (who happens to shake it very well)
-and of course, a tailgate
I feel as if I’ve written this review before. Probably because I feel like I’ve heard this song before. Probably because I feel like I’ve heard this song before from Cole Swindell. And Luke Bryan. And all of the other “bros” of “country” music who’ve spent the last three years singing this very song over and over again.
I can see why Cole is releasing this song. It’s his bread and butter. He’s not going to let this bro-country die without giving it every last attempt at CPR. And there are still a group of idiots out there who will lap this up. How well the song will do in an environment that is clearly letting the trend it is associated with die remains to be seen.
