Now, he has put out what I feel is a strong contender for worst song of the year. "Homegrown Honey" isn't just bad. It's Florida Georgia Line bad. It is absolutely one of the worst songs I've heard all year.
From the unnecessary repetition, to the pseudo-rap beat, to the shallowness of the lyrics, this song can't find a way to get anything right. And it can't even succeed at being catchy or infectious.
For a guy who only six months ago remarked "if it's not a country song, I don't want to play it," and when his first album came out touted that they had to tone it down because it was actually too country, either his mindset on what constitutes country has vastly changed or one or both of those statements must be a lie. I kid you not this song contains the following lines:
"You little homegrown honey honey honey
You're so money money money"
While it may not be as offensive as lines in Florida Georgia Line's recent release, it certainly doesn't do Rucker any favors.
It's yet another song that requires an immediate change of the radio dial. If you're actually wasting your time listening to mainstream radio. This song is awful beyond belief.
