Take Canadian Country star Dean Brody's latest single, "Mountain Man." Here's a song that does that type of theme well.
The song is done with humor and can bring about a chuckle throughout. It's a fun song that's done without turning itself into a tired cliche. It's a song to which you can turn up the volume and not feel ashamed.
It's also not typical fare for Brody, which is refreshing. Brody doesn't pigeonhole himself by singing only about how country he is throughout an entire album. He has a strong repertoire that makes a song like this enjoyable because you won't be hearing him sing twenty other songs just like it.
Brody is a great singer who deserves a lot more airplay than he receives (though he's very popular in his native Canada, where it seems country music is more substantive as a whole). I'll always look forward to new music from him.
