If there was any hope that Lady Antebellum would redeem themselves after the abysmal "Bartender," that hope has been thoroughly diminished after "Freestyle," the second single release from their new studio album.
It's odd, because a couple of years back after downtown, they released a very strong single with "Goodbye Town," even if Golden turned out to be a very subpar album.
Being completely candid, "Freestyle" is even worse than "Bartender." As bad as that song was, at least there was something to it. One could at least understand how someone might be able to enjoy the song. With "Freestyle," all we are given is an all out dance-club number that sounds like a reject from the Florida Georgia Line song pile.
It's sad to see that Lady Antebellum has sunk this far. Sure, they were never traditional country, but they had some strong contemporary country offerings, especially on their first album, and even through Own the Night which had some really great tracks on it. | "It's not just a subpar track from a group who can do better. It's an atrocious track from a group who should do better." |
"Freestyle"[...]sounds like a reject from the Florida Georgia Line song pile.
