WARNING! LANGUAGE AHEAD.  I GENERALLY TRY TO AVOID CURSING IN MY REVIEWS, BUT SOMETIMES, SOMETHING COMES ALONG THAT SO WARRANTS IT, THAT IT BECOMES NECESSARY.   IF EVERY REVIEW OF A SONG I DON’T LIKE TURNED INTO A CURSE-LADEN TIRADE, IT WOULD DULL THE EFFECT.  THEREFORE, I SAVE IT FOR WHEN NECESSARY.  HERE, IT HAS BECOME NECESSARY.

Backroad?  Check.  Tractors?  Check.   Cornfield party?  Check.  Back roads?  Check.  Boots?  Check.  Not getting what them city boys are doing in a bar?  Check.

Luke Bryan’s lead-off single to his upcoming album has got it all.

Unfortunately for all of us, what it’s got all of is pretty much all of what we all got sick of hearing ages ago.  Once Bryan decided to leave his spring break EPs behind him, I don’t think anyone actually expected him to take any real significant steps in the right direction.  That ship sailed long ago.  But this is flat out regression.  There were songs on his spring break EPs which were at least listenable, even if they couldn’t be classified as good.  This is just migraine inducing.

I actually find it hilarious that Bryan spends a verse putting down those who wait in line to get into a bar considering this song is tailor-made for a Jay-Z-club-remix.

I’ve grown tired of saying songs are an embarrassment to country music, because sooner or later (usually sooner), someone comes along and outdoes it.  It’s like it’s a competition for who can degrade and insult country music the most.

The truth is, I blame the fans of this shit more than anything else.  I’ve seen Luke Bryan make good songs in the past.  Hell, I’ve seen Blake Shelton make several good songs in the past.  Fuck, I’ve seen BRANTLEY GILBERT make good songs in the past, and he’s as much of a target of my criticism as Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line.

If the fans of this bullshit would step back and realize that they’re fucking morons and this shit is not country music, then maybe these artists, who’ve shown talent in the past, would return to making better music.  But, fuck!  NO! Right now, THIS SHIT is what’s considered “country” and those asshole fanboys and fangirls will be damned if they have to actually listen to country music when they listen to country music.

That’s not to say I’m excusing these artists.  Not in the least.  This shit is pathetic.  It’s disgusting that ANYONE could possibly consider this the same genre as Johnny Cash, no matter how many times they try to convince people that “music has changed, and it’s 2015.”
