About a third of the way through his set on Saturday night, Garth Brooks said that he’s just like us, he goes to concerts, and when his favorites have a new album coming out, good for them, but he goes to their show to hear THE OLD STUFF!
Therefore, it wasn’t too surprising that during the course of the show, only two new songs were played: “People Loving People,” the new single, and the song he kicked off the concert with, “Man Against the Machine.” Even with the stellar acoustics at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, when the first time you hear a song is in a live element, it’s difficult to catch everything. Therefore, commenting on the content of the song is difficult. However, the sound is what we’d expect from Garth, probably what more people were hoping for from his comeback single. It was very up-tempo Garth and had a great song. And live, “People Loving People” added a different dimension, so that even those who aren’t fully enthralled with the song may appreciate it more in its live environment.
